K-Ci Hailey, best known as a member of the hit-making R&B groups Jodeci and K-Ci & JoJo, has signed with P Music Group for management as he relaunches his solo career. Slated to release new music in 2020, the Grammy Award-nominated artist is being represented by Mark Siegel of ICM Partners for tour bookings.
Headed by founder/CEO Michael Paran, P Music Group also manages Charlie Wilson (Gap Band) and Johnny Gill (New Edition). In a release announcing Hailey’s signing, Paran said, “I’ve been a personal fan of K-Ci for years. He is a talented singer, songwriter and producer with one of the most recognizable voices in R&B. His talent, backstory, trials and commitment to turning around his life will make for another great success story that we are proud to be a part of. Given our roster, K-Ci fits the exact mold of what has helped drive our success with what we do best at P Music Group.”
Hailey began his music career as a youngster singing with his father’s gospel group, Little Cedric (aka K-Ci) & the Hailey Singers. Switching to R&B, he and brother Joel “JoJo” Hailey teamed up with the DeGrate brothers—DeVanté and Dalvin—to form Jodeci in the early ‘90s. Signed to Uptown Records, the harmonious quartet recorded three platinum albums that spun off several R&B and pop hits, including “Come & Talk to Me,” “Forever My Lady,” “Cry for You,” “Freek‘n You” and “Lately.”
Splitting off as a duo, K-Ci & JoJo released their multiplatinum debut album, Love Always, in 1997. The album featured the Grammy-nominated “All My Life,” No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts, and the top 10 R&B hits “You Bring Me Up” and “Last Night’s Letter.” Four more albums followed between 1999 and 2013, including the multiplatinum It’s Real and the platinum X, as well as hits such as “Tell Me It’s Real” and “Crazy.” Among the pair’s additional credits is their guest role on Tupac Shakur’s R&B and pop chart-topper, “How Do U Want It.” The Hailey siblings are also cousins to fellow artists Fantasia, Stephanie Mills and Anthony Hamilton.
K-Ci Hailey initially went solo in 2006 with debut album My Book. He most recently collaborated with Keith Sweat on “How Many Ways” from Sweat’s Playing For Keeps album and “No One Else” from Snoop Dogg’s critically acclaimed debut gospel album, Bible of Love.
“This is a special time in my career, and I am thrilled about signing with P Music Group,” said Hailey. “Now is the right time to reintroduce myself to my fans, and I promise that they won’t be disappointed in this new chapter.”
